About us

Fair Tourism is a non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting Indigenous communities to take ownership of their stories, heritage, and development through community tourism.

Its mission is to ensure that tourism becomes a tool for true thriveability - allowing communities to control how their living culture is represented, shared, and sustained for future generations.

We believe tourism can be a force for good. Fair Tourism connects people, communities, and travelers to create experiences that uplift locals, protect nature, and celebrate culture.

Mission

Our mission is to strengthen community tourism by collaborating with all involved stakeholders (government, local organizations, tour operators and academic partners) to provide meaningful capacity building, and by co-creating tourism initiatives that reflect community priorities, protect natural and cultural heritage, and support regenerative development.

Vision

We envision a future where Indigenous communities are no longer viewed as attractions, but are recognized as leaders in regenerative tourism - fostering equitable opportunities, safeguarding natural and cultural heritage, and advancing the thriveability of their people.

Our Movement

We stand for fair tourism because Indigenous cultures, ecosystems, and landscapes deserve respect and care.

Indigenous communities deserve to thrive and receive fair benefits from the visitors they welcome, and community tourism can grow worldwide as a force for good when it is truly fair.

Our Story

Fair Tourism was founded on the belief that travel can create positive change when done responsibly. We work to promote fair, inclusive, and regenerative tourism through research, education, and collaboration.

Our current focus is on developing community  tourism projects in Thailand, Kenya and Indonesia, where we support indigenous people in shaping tourism that benefits both people and nature.

Fair Tourism continues to grow as a platform for sharing knowledge, building partnerships, and inspiring a more responsible way to travel.

Fair Tourism provides guidance and practical advice to help you develop successful community tourism projects. Do you have an indigenous community in mind and are ready to bring your idea to life?

Our Team

Our team is united by the belief that Indigenous culture should remain celebrated and visible. We support one another, stay aligned with our purpose, and focus on creating work that carries meaning and impact.
